Ingredients

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz) green beans cut, drained
  • 1.33 cups crispy fried onions divided

Equipment

  • 1 8-inch square baking dish

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  3. In a medium bowl, stir together the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper.
  4. Fold in the green beans and 2/3 cup of the crispy fried onions.
  5. Spread the mixture in the baking dish.
  6. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes, until hot and bubbling.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 2/3 cup crispy fried onions over the casserole.
  8. Bake for 5 minutes, until the onions are golden brown.
  9. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For the crispiest topping, add the remaining onions only for the final bake. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended because the creamy sauce and onions can lose their texture. For a gluten-free adaptation, use certified gluten-free cream of mushroom soup, tamari, and crispy fried onions.
